When a house proud mum spotted some wall-sized feather decorations for sale on eBay she fell in love.
Lolly, a property manager and DJ from Ruislip, north west London, excitedly ordered them, deciding they’d be ideal for her hallway and would lead up the stairs.
The image of the £12.99 decorations on the eBay listing showed they were large, mirrored-effect decorations which would add the illusion of more space in any home.
A few weeks later when a small A5 grey plastic envelope arrived at Lolly’s home she had no idea what it contained.
The only order she was waiting for were the large wall coverings for her home, but it surely couldn’t be them as the package was far too small.
Lolly was wrong.
She said: “I’ was wondering what was in the envelope and when I opened it out dropped eight tiny grey shapes.
“I realised they were supposed to be the wall coverings and I could do nothing but laugh.”
Instead of the large mirrored feathers she had been promised, Lolly received miniature feather-shaped bits of grey plastic.
In addition the items were sent from China and not from the UK as the Ebay listing said hence the long wait which ended in disappointment, albeit one with a funny side.
“To think I wait so long for my order and this is what I got.
“Some people would be upset but with everything we have been through it was nice to have a laugh.”
Lolly said she won’t be pursuing the seller for a refund even though her purchase was not clearly described.
She explained: “The laugh it gave me and my friends was worth the £12.99.
“When I put it on my Facebook page I took pictures of it next to a computer mouse and a TV remote so people can see just how small they are and the amount of laughter it caused makes it worth every penny.”
“I think the next time I want something from my home I’ll go to the shops,” she laughed.
“At least then I know exactly what I’m buying!”.
