Now that lockdown measures have eased and beauty salons are open to the public we’re able to book to get all of our usual treatments done.
Hair, nails, spray tans, eyelashes and more – but now a beautician has issued a stark warning to people who get eyelash extensions.
Ipek Ozcan of @ipsbeauty on TikTok regularly shares glamorous before and after transformations of customer’s who’ve had the eyelash treatment.
But it’s her video on “what happens when you don’t clean your eyelash extensions” that everyone’s talking about – and it’s pretty grim.
In a video that has been viewed almost eight million times, Ipek can be seen removing the crusty, yellow build-up of makeup, oil and dirt from her client’s lashes.
As she begins to gently remove the grime with a pair of tweezers, she said: “Uh I feel sick,” although she admitted it was “kind of satisfying in a gross way.”
Ipek said: “To prevent this from happening to you, just clean your lashes once a day.”
Since being posted, the video has racked up more than 850,000 likes and 25,000 comments from disgusted viewers, with some lash technicians saying it’s the “worst build-up” they’ve ever seen.
One person said: “This is literally the worst build-up I’ve seen and I’ve been doing lashes 10 years.”
Another said: “I would never put lashes on that person again.”
“Please show the correct way to clean our lashes!!” begged someone else.
Whilst a few people said it looked like the eye was “infected”, one person said: “I would pay someone to let me clean this it looks so satisfying.”
